India wins Women’s World Cup Kabaddi Championship


India clenched the first Women’s World Cup Kabaddi Championship trophy after defeating Iran 25-19 in a thrilling final in the indoor hall of Patliputra Sports Complex at Kankarbagh,Patna on Sunday. Japan was declared third and Thailand finished fourth in the championship.

India was leading Iran in the first half by 19-11 and despite best efforts, Iran could not return in the game and finally, India emerged victorious.India scored 25 points while Iran could get only 19 points, however, players of Iran made aggressive raids in second half, to narrow down the margin.
Earlier, India defeated Japan and Iran defeated Thailand in the semi-finals of the World Cup. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi, State Human Resources Development Minister P K Shahi, BJP MP film star Shatrughah Sinha were present to witness thrilling world cup final match.
Later, captain of Indian team told mediapersons here that all players performed well enabling to clinch world cup championship.Several countries, not so equipped with technique of Kabaddi game, were now displaying good skills, making tough challenge for the India. She, however, complimented Iran for giving tough challenge in second half of the game.
