Gagan Agarwal-Youngest Project scientist in Asia

Twenty-one-year-old Gagan Agrawal is the Project Scientist of VYOM (‘sky’ in Sanskrit) , Asia’s first student designed  Sounding Rocket Program.

The rocket was designed by  the B.Tech students of Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram, under the guidance and supervision of the experts from Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), and the Faculty Members of IIST. It was launched from the Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station near Thiruvananthapuram in May.

Agrawal, who just finished his BTech in Aerospace from IIST, has become the youngest project scientist in Asia after the rocket launch. He is also the founder of Model Rocketry Workshop: Rocketeers India venture to promote aerospace outside classroom and reach students across India. He wants to promote research and development among the youth and the industry.

Gagan is a resident of Subhanpura and had done his schooling from Vadodara.
