Coimbatore-based Bannari Amman Institute of Technology’s team Hot Wheels won the Freescale Cup 2013, an ‘intelligent car’ race for engineering students.
The event was organised by Freescale Semiconductor in association with the Department of Electronic Systems Engineering (DESE) and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and is part of Freescale’s initiative to promote innovation and creative thinking in engineering students across the world.
The 3rd edition of the Freescale Cup drew 225 teams from 70 colleges, of which 50 teams faced off in the grand finale. Freescale provided model car kits, development tools based on Freescale microcontroller technology, and technical support for the students, who had to develop a prototype racing car that followed a line along a track. The winning car was the one that completed the track in the shortest time.
The teams who qualified for the final round received a merit certificate from Freescale. The winners received the following cash awards, along with a certificate of merit.
