Mysore railway station has become the first railway station in South India to receive the ‘most tourist-friendly railway station 2011-12 award’ presented by the ministry of tourism.
Mysore railway station is one of the A-class railway stations among three A-class stations coming under Mysore division of South Western Railway. Authorities had applied for the award in December 2012.

Mysore station will soon get a fast food-joint at the entrance on KRS Road, pay-and-use toilet, escalators at platform 1 and 6, construction of subway, multi-functional complex with food court, chemist shop and book stalls
