Transforming India the Youngistaan way

A network of volunteers who are zealous of making a difference to the community and to help people who are in need.
Change the world

This is what the Facebook page of Youngistaan says. These youngsters who claim to be making a difference, actually end up doing much more than they promise. They not only change the world, but also help in restoring faith in humanity.

Youngistaan is a network of volunteers in Hyderabad who meet every Sunday to cook food for about 800 people.  They meet homeless people, offer them food and spend time with them. They also attend to any medical help that might be needed and counsel them to lead a better life. The number of people they are able to reach out to  increases or decreases depending on the  amount of funds available with them.

This initiative was started in March 2012 by four friends. The group started off by feeding around 50 people. They would order packets of food from a bakery and distribute them. Gradually their work got noticed and like-minded people started joining them. In September 2012 they switched to cooking and packing the food themselves. The youngsters are helped by Abhilash Raj, who runs a catering business.

Every Sunday afternoon the group gathers at Chirag Ali Lane in Abids to cook and pack the food. The process which begins at 3pm goes on till 7pm.A second batch of volunteers arrives at 7pm and carries the food packets to different areas across the city for distribution. The groups go to areas like Chaderghat, Afzalgunj, Nampally, Narayanguda, Himayatnagar, Dilsukhnagar, Secunderabad Clock Tower, Kacheguda station and Masab Tank etc. If you want to assist them in their work you can call them at  9966992281/9000155660/9885342224.
